  • Barry Chernoff Z"L passed away in his sleep at the age of 85 on Tuesday, February 4, 2020. Barry was known for always spreading joy to everyone around him. He loved telling jokes and spending the holidays with all of his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sandra Chernoff, his children, Ira & Rhona Chernoff, Dawn & Aaron Chevinsky, and Marc & Linda Chernoff, and his 11 grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Evan, Shayna, Lea, Jonathan, Daniella, Diane, Jessica, Alana, and Sasha. Throughout his life, Barry was passionate about education and he spent his career as a teacher, guidance counselor, and principal. For years, he led junior congregation at his local synagogue and taught Hebrew school for students to learn about Judaism after school. Barry Chernoff’s Memorial Fund for Jewish Education will be used to continue the memory of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who always taught us the importance of receiving a Jewish education filled with love, compassion, and happiness.

  • The Barry Chernoff Memorial Fund For Jewish Education will serve two  goals: (1) The establishment of The Barry Chernoff Jewish Kids Club on Long Island - which will keep the flame  of Judaism burning in the hearts of the youth.  (2) An annual donation to assist Jewish families with Tuition fees  to enable children with a  Jewish Education
